Do you take insurance? Give me a call to see if I am an in-network provider with your insurance company. Also, please call your provider to check on your coverage.
Note: In order to use your insurance, a mental health diagnosis is required. This information will become part of your permanent health record.
What if you do not take my insurance? If your insurance does not cover me, you may want to consider using your out-of-network benefits. Don't worry, I can help!
What should I expect the first time? In the first session, I will focus on creating a plan and establishing goals for our work together. The intake forms online will help me get some background information. From here I get a sense of how things are and what might be most helpful. It is also a chance for you to ask me questions and make certain that you feel I am a fit for your needs.
In couples counseling, what will you tell my partner about what I tell you? I will not be able to help couples who are not being open with each other. If there is something that you reveal to me in therapy that you are not willing to share with your partner, I will not be able to see you for couple’s therapy but will work with you on finding a solution to getting the help that you desire.
How frequent is therapy scheduled and long does therapy last? I usually suggest seeing people every week during tough times, then moving on to every other week. Depending on the issues or your interest, it is possible to do therapy for a few months and then either be done or take a break. On the other hand if you find therapy helpful and it works for you, therapy can continue regularly as long as you choose.
Do you have experience with the GLBT community? Yes, and I consider myself a GLBT affirming therapist. I support all couples in creating powerful committed relationships.
Do you work with people who have nontraditional romantic relationships? I work to support people in having a life that works for them, without judgment. I know that it can be very difficult to ask for support when you fear being judged about your choices. If you have questions about this, please feel free to drop me a note and we can discuss the situation.
