I’m Leana Sykes, a Counselor and practicing Relationship Therapist with over two decades of experience. Since 2001, I’ve had the privilege of working with children, families, and couples to help them heal, grow, and foster deeper connections. In addition to my therapy practice, I have been supervising counselors and other helping professionals since 2007. Guiding others to discover their strengths and create new closeness in their relationships is truly my life's passion.
I am trained in several evidence-based therapeutic models. I hold Level 1 training in Emotionally Focused Couples and Individual Therapy (EFT) and Level 3 training in the Gottman Method of couples therapy. Additionally, I’m Level 1 trained in Attachment-Based Family Therapy and Relational Life Therapy. My therapeutic approach is grounded in attachment theory because I believe that the relationships we have—past and present, with ourselves and others—shape our emotional and physical well-being.
I earned my bachelor’s degree from the University of Scranton, my Master’s degree from Loyola University Maryland in the School Counseling program (M.Ed), and a Post-Master's Certificate in Couple and Family Therapy from Drexel University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in New Jersey, a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), an NBCC Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), and a trained Divorce Mediator through the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators.
Whether you’re a client seeking to strengthen your relationships or a fellow professional looking for clinical supervision, I am committed to offering guidance that is compassionate, collaborative, and rooted in proven therapeutic methods.
